You may find your laptop a little large, and there's also the problem of where do you put it that gives you a good view of the screen without taking your eyes off the road for too long. Another problem is, how long will your laptop battery last ? Do you have an in-car charger for your laptop ? However, you'll easily get a system under £200.



If you're not looking for voice navigation where it will direct you both on screen and tell you to turn left or turn right, then Route 66 would be a good option. Route 66 sells for around £100 for UK software and a serial cabled GPS mouse (which requires a serial socket on your laptop and a PS/2 socket to take the power from to power the GPS. You can get a USB mouse too.



If you're looking to have voice navigation too, then for around £105 you can go for InfoMap Navigator UK, and this will be supplied with a similar serial mouse or USB mouse.
