how to upgrade tomtom software on ipaqhx2790

I have had my ipaq for a few weeks now and found it works well for me. However I noticed my colleagues tomtom has a later version of software on his tomtom so I have found an upgrade and saved it to my PC but not run it yet.
The file I have downloaded is called navupd521.
The version of software on my ipaq is 5.100 (5160)

I dont want to run the download as it is an executable file and there are no readme files What do I do, Is there any advantage upgrading and if there is how do I do it

Put your iPAQ into the cradle, let ActiveSync connect, and then run the exe file. It is safe to use, and it fixes some minor bugs too.
