Disable auto power off on TT5 BT

I have bought TT5 with TT's own Bluetooth receiver which I am using with an Acer N30. The BT receiver automatically powers off when it loses a connection with the PDA (as per the maual). I have the receiver on the back shelf of the car (to avoid the heated windscreen) and with a permanent power supply. Does anyone know of any way to disable the auto power off so the BT receiver stays on when I take the PDA out of the car? Otherwise having the receiver on the back shelf becomes a nightmare!

I've had a response from TomTom support to the same question, as follows:

This feature was introduced at the request of customers , Its not possible to over-ride this so if you find this unsuitable the only options will be to purcahse a reradiating antenna to over the screen effect of the windscreen or return it to your point of sale .

So the answer is - don't use TT5 BT mkII on the back shelf of your car!
