Does anyone know what coverage of Ireland the TomTom 500 has.

I know this unit is only supposed to be FULL G.B. maps and the major roads of Europe, but am i right in thinking some towns and cities in the Republic of Ireland, ARE listed, i.e.,Dublin, Galway, Cork etc.

I do know the Republic of Ireland does not belong to the U.K.,and thus strictly speaking, should not have street level mapping of its towns on the '500', but i'm sure i heard somewhere it does have the odd town listed.

Some nice person with a TomTom '500' should be able to clarify this for me.

Many thanks for your assistance! :D

I don't have a 500 but the maps are the same and the Republic only appears on the Major Roads (or Plus) Maps.

My knowledge of what roads actually exist is zero, but there is a network of Major Roads shown. In the towns you mention, only Dublin has a greater selection of roads displayed, compared to the others.

As to it's completeness, I don't know. If you gave an example of 2 or 3 of the smaller roads, I could see if they are there.

That's the best I can offer, I'm afraid.

Cheers Oldboy,

i wonder if users with a TomTom Go '500' could check and see what coverage of Ireland you actually get at street level.

i.e, Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Galway etc.

Many thanks so far. :D

They won't see anymore than I did, as they have the same maps. Smile

700 has some main roads of Ireland and street level detail of the bigger towns: Dublion, Galway, Limerick, Cork, Waterford, Wexford etc. Not Killarney, Wicklow, Navan, etc.

Looks a bit half finished. Drogheda and Athlone have the roads, but lots are "unnamed".

Northern Ireland is Belfast and major roads outside.

Map version 568. There is a new 2GB SD card available from TomTom that will fit the ONE/300/500 with this map on it.

Surely someone with a TomTom 500 can check for me to see if any of these town have street level detail on their '500'.

I would'nt mind getting a TomTom 500, so long as at least Dublin was mapped to street level.

Cheers for any further advice! :D
