Hi,
The Night Mode function didn't change until after 9pm.
Only used it once @night.
I'm assuming it works off the clock? UTC?

Does anybody know if the NightMode start time can be adjusted?

It works as you thought, and I don't think you can adjust it. You can however switch between day and night modes manually if you use Left on the Directional Pad to toggle them.

My night mode kicks in at 5pm. The only thought is if you have your ppc set to the right timezone and region. Apparently CP6 looks at these settings for some things.

The one time I found my Night Mode on/off time to be mis-adjusted by a couple of hours, after some investigation I found that my iPaq had me on the "Visiting" clock, in a faraway time zone. Switching back to the "Home" clock in the Clock Settings page restored normal Night Mode times. Or correcting the timezone of the visitor clock is equally good.

The iPaq (and maybe other PDAs) offers the convenience of the Visitor clock with its own timezone, so you can quickly switch from Home to the Other place you often go to, and the clock will be correct for that mode.

So CoPilot correctly goes by the Home/Visitor setting you choose. In my case I had a bad timezone set for the Visitor mode.

Coincidentally (maybe) this problem only occurred once, while I was riding from east coast US to California, across 4 timezones. Could it be that CoPilot detected that I had changed timezones and put me into "Visitor" mode? I didn't do this myself, at least not on purpose.

I've had no problem since, and I too found that you can toggle the night mode with the 4-way button.

Thanks for the Manual Toggle button tip.
I checked my visitors time, but it was ok.
That will do it for me at the moment.

cheers

And the 4-way button adjusts the volume as well. Good find

It seems to me this automatic daylight/night-time switch is a real white elephant. If it wasn't I don't think that a manual switch would have been provided as well.

I M O, the developers' time, and the PPC memory, used to achieve this automatic feature would have been better used on some missing essential features, such as a user-specified Favourites list.

I think you're right Ponderous.

I may have inadvertently bumped the left button while adjusting the volume, as I was being blinded by the bright screen, and it just happened to be 9pm, and thought it was automatic?? doh!

In agreeing with me above, A636 wrote that his PPC was displaying daylight colours at 9pm. However, the point that I was trying to make was that the automatic facility would be unnecessary even if it worked. A couple of button presses, or screen taps in the case of TomTom, does the trick, and it is needed twice a day at most.

I havent had a problem with night mode really. It changes autoomatically at 5pm.
However, what would be better would be the ability to change the map style as in Tomtom as i find the night mode in CP6 still a little on the bright side.

The only problem i have is that i have an iPaq HX4700 with a touch pad and i sometimes inadvertantly switch night mode on which disables the automatice night mode.
