I have TTN5.2 installed on an HP IPAQ 6365. I am using a TomTom Bluetooth GPS (Old style) The problem that I am having, is that unless the phone on the PDA is switched on TTN starts up in Flight mode and will not connect to the BT GPS there appears to be no way of switching it off of flight mode. Does anyone know of a way of correcting this or the custom menu code for the flight mode menu item.

Thanks.

Have you checked in HP Profiles to see what profile you are in? That will dictate which of your wireless connections will be on. You could have one with them all off.

If the phone radio stack is off, so is BT as they're all radio stacks.

You can control the stacks seperatly, ie turn BT on without Phone etc. The problem seems to be that TomTom detects that the phone is switched off and assumes that you want to be in Flight mode and starts up accordingly which means that it makes no attempt to talk to the BT GPS.

On my XDA II and Exec, whilst you can turn off Bt and or WLAN independently of the Phone stack, turning off the Phone stack can only be achieved by entering flight mode which turns all radio stacks off.

Not the same with Ipaq 63xx series. With my 6340 you can have any of them on or off independently - but you can specify profiles that does that automatically - hence my previous suggestion. However it is obvious that Barleymo knows about that aspect so not that.

I can confirm that this is a bug. And not just on the 63xx. The same is true for the Xda Exec - there you can control phone, Bluetooth, and wireless separately but TTN will only run if the phone is not switched off.

The error message is simply wrong - TTN should not check if flight mode is on or not.

I thought about this a bit more and may have found a solution.

The workaround is to configure TomTom to use "Other Cable NMEA" instead of "Other Bluetooth" - then you can have your phone switched off, and Bluetooth switched on.

works on my iPAQ 6315 but your mileage might vary.

Lutz

I saw you first reply and thought thats not right because TT5 on my 6340 works with the phone off (although for other reasons which I can understand I loose the connection to my audio system). Then I read your second post and that explains why mine does work - I have already used the other cable NMEA setting.
