TomTom GO 700

Have downloaded the software and read the instructions.

It tells me to rename the TomTom700.mnu to TomTom.mnu

Only problem is that I can't find any *.mnu file on the device.

What I am doing wrong?

Are you not seeing any 3 letter file extensions?
If not, in Windows Explorer or My Computer, go to Tools / Folder Options / View and UN-tick "Hide extensions for known file types".

Lets get things right first.

I'm looking in the root direcory of the TomTom

I'm seeing all extensions and all hidden files. (everything OK so far?)

I'm seeing only one file named TomTom and that is TomTom.ico

I do a search throughout the device for TomTom and all it shows is
    tomtom.ico
    tomtom.aid
    the tomtom-cfg folder
    scrtomtomtraffic.bmp

Nowhere is there tomtom700.mnu or even tomtom.mnu!!

Stop - reset - start Laughing

Sorry, I was treading carefully, because I recently got it wrong when I said there wasn't a default splashscreen on the 700 when there was (but wasn't before V5 software which I had originally), and got brainfog.

Right - there isn't a default .mnu; without one the Go uses its default menu layout. You are being asked to add a custom menu so that the new icon for POICapture shows up.
Custom menus and how they work are described in detail HERE

So it is OK to add one even if there isn't one there already.
