mio 269 pic sizes

just got a mio 269 and need to know how to set a background image to the right size, i know they need to be in bmp format but the pic always comes up way to big, any ideas peeps, also a idiot proof explanation to put poi warner and safety camera info onto this device, and how can i get hold of the v2 upgrade as its no longer available
