Which one of these should i go for

Hi just seen this site and it look great.
Im after a sat nav and was thinking which one to go for:
Tom Tom Go 300
Navman ICN 520
Tom Tom One
Navman ICN 320
Garmin Street pilot I3

Whats the pros and cons of the above, i like the I3 coz its tiny and the tt1 is the newest!
Do all of these show speed camera locations?
Any help greatly appreicated

So many different types out there, and I guess budget will be a big factor.

I've just got the Navman PiN 570(PDA GPS) since I like gadgets rather than just the satnav box. cost about £230. I went for this so I could always change the software at some point if the Navman software stops being updated or for whatever reason I may want to change it. (no plans to do so just yet).

The ICN320 is a good price (~£165), but it doesnot load POI's from what I could see, so speed cameras etc probably won't work.

The PiN570 does let you do this, took a little playing with but it seems to work.

Friends have got the TomTom 300, cost a little bit more ~270, and are happy with it- also seems to work and the software seems a little simpler -not sure if they ahve got the speed cameras on that unit or not, probably worth checking the threads on here to see if people have done this. The Navman software is a bit quirky with the PDA, but does work, just needs a little playing with if you want to do anything more than the basic.

I have recently purchased a Garmin i3 and I'm extremely happy with its performance. It is a "basic" level GPS and it can be purchased for only £170 or less; thus it is excellent value for money. The small size allows you to put it in your handbag or pocket and it can easily be transferred from car to car. My wife and kids love it!
Loading speed camera information and other POIs is straightforward.

So there are some supporters of the Garmin, price looks interesting but I don't know how good or bad it is. sounds like it has a better list of options than the Navman ICN320, but is till a basic unit.

From my own point of view, I would make sure whatever you go for has some user adjustment available, such as the POI downloads etc.. It's not only the cameras, but also how much can you customise. From what I can see none of these systems are idiot proof, they need a certain level of intervention so that the decision the software makes can match up with what you would have decided with a map or autoroute on your PC. So how easy is it to plan a route, how easy is it when you are driving aong to change the route to avoid a road closure or accident. If you can't change things easily on the fly, you'll end up taking a different route and the unit constantly telling you to make a U turn and go back to what it had planned.

the navman unit the first time I came across this did just this -not too helpful. Once I knew you had to touch the screen and select avoid the area, then it was fine.

So just make a list of what is important to you and see which of the units matches this best.

I am sure Garmin, tomtom and Navman all work and will have good and bad points , just weigh up the features in order of importance.

(just a hint, may be useful to make sure the unit can have an external antenna added just in case your car is not perfect for GPS reception.)

the i3 does not have a touch screen
the tt1 does
eaiser to use (you get all the lettere of the alphabet
instead of scrolling through)
you can also mount it portrait mode if you want

are those features worth an extra £50 ? I thought they were and bought a tt1
