New Garmin with mapping

Anyone else heard about the release of a new Garmin GPS model with mapping capabilities? I've heard it will be in the next 3 weeks or so. Waterproof & with maps (not sure if it will use MM etc. or just have a Garmin program built in. It should be colour as well.

They are bringing out some new models one of which is gpsmap60c with a storage card and sirfIII chip .They will need the extra storage for the new uk topo maps that are being released in late Jan 2006 .
From what I gathered as the gps meet last week the uk map is around 1.5gb and should cost about £ 150 with two unlock codes.

Does that means it is probably best not to buy a Garmin GSPMAP 60CS now, but to wait until the new version with the siftIII chip is on sale?

From what I have heard, the SiRF III GPS chipset is far superior to anything Garmin ever produced and it works through the heat reflecting windscreens, whereas the Garmin chipsets don't. Garmin have obviously acknowledged this because they are now using the chipsets in their new GPS units.

The old Garmin receivers do work fairly well, but I would recommend that you wait for the new model if you can.
