Software Activation?

I have just got a TT ONE.

I opened the box and immediately copied the SD card using a laptop and card reader. I then placed my SD card into the TT ONE.

No activation or anything? Is this normal as i was lead to belive that the software needs activating? At what point if ever will i need to activate and how do i do this. I have a little plastic card with a bunch of numbers and letters on it, whats that for?

And if the software doesn't need activating whats to stop anyone sharing software maps. eg ask my buddy to copy his europe maps and i buy a new SD and off i go. Seems a little open to piracy to me.....

or have a missed the point as this is a hardware device and not like the ipaq stuff ? Could the card be married to my unit which would be a effective measure.

The card supplied with your ONE will be pre-activated, and is tied to your Device.

The plastic card shows the Product Number, which you will need if should have to activate. If you logon to TomTom Website, you can store your Product Code and Activation Code under My Products.

You will need the Product Code to be able to Update the Maps, as and when, at the Update Price.
