I have just downloaded this month's database update and note that in the "Which files should I use" document you now say to use the .asc version with a Navman running smartST 3. This contradicts the information given previously and which is contained in your beginners guide here, which was that we should be using the .csv version. Last month I used the .csv version having stripped the first line off the top and it worked well so should I change to .asc now? I note that a bonus of using the .asc version is that there is no need to strip the text off the top of the files.

I recall reading in either some instruction somewhere or in a forum entry the comment, "and .asc files - whatever they're for" or words to that effect. Is it the case that a use has just been found? The downside of the .asc version is that it is not split into speed zones so I think I may continue to use the .csv files anyhow unless there is a particular reason not to.

If you use the .asc files you will be able to load them into the navman without having to use Notepad first. The first line of the file is REM'd out already.

This will ultimately save having postings about not being able to import the cameras.
