Just got my Tom Tom One and have downloaded your excellent speed camera database. My one gripe with it is the fact that it picks up cameras on the other side of the road. Maybe I'm just being picky but I drive daily on the A406 and there are many cameras on the side that I am driving on and it gets a little annoying when the cameras on the other side of the dual carriageway are also alerting me. Is there a solution to this?

Thanks for the reply. While what you are saying makes complete sense I use the Tom Tom all the time regardless if I am using the Navi or not. In other words I use it as a speed detector on my daily roads and then use it for both navi and cameras when I don't know the route I'm on. So, basically on my daily work route I don't obviously enter a route. According to you I should select "only warn when on route", but does that mean if I haven't entered a route it will not warn me of any cameras.

Do you understand what I'm saying or am I waffling?

You're right.

At the moment the only two choices are "Warn only when on route" or not.

If NOT ticked, it will always alert to any camera within the range you've set, wherever it is.

If ticked, it will ignore any cameras that are on adjacent roads or the other side of a dual carriageway. It MAY also miss a camera that has been put into the database a little "off-road". If you have NO route set, it will show them on screen but never alert.

Daft isn't it? There is a long standing feature request for a new, third option of "Warn only when on route if a route is set, otherwise warn anyway", but it hasn't happened yet (maybe they couldn't fit it all on the screen!).

Going back to the alerts themselves, the TomTom always regards dual carriageways as two separate roads, so with the option ticked you shouldn't be bothered by cameras on the other carriageway; but for single carriageway roads there is no way to stop it warning you anyway.
