Rolling Eyes i started out with hp navigator 4 with ipaq 1710.
this was upgraded to navigator 5. then, to rid myself of cables i upgraded to ipaq 2110 and syson bluetooth gps plus.
i have tried numerous ways to load tomtom but have not managed to successfully do this.
if anyone could give me advice in simple terms, i would be very grateful.

what's the current status - did you manage to install TTN on the new PDA yet?

at the moment, the position is that i have installed the maps to the sd card, but on the pda there is no shortcut available. the last attempt loaded the tomtom, but it could not find any maps, so i deleted the program and started again.

Some card readers will load the data to the card that can be seen on your main pc ok, but cannot be seen on the PDA. Yes, try ActiveSync, takes for ages, and sometimes looks like its restarting when sending the map data to the card on the PDA, but its not, just wait and it should complete ok. Could be between 30-50 minutes.

you should never install maps through ActiveSync. The TomTom installer gives you the option to install to storage card reader, and you should take that offer.

The application however can be installed through ActiveSync, and this should not take very long.

Let me rephrase. The application can be installed with the TomTom installer when the Pocket PC is connected to the PC. So ActiveSync is not (directly) involved (but a connection should exist).

You need to use the first CD to install the application. All the other CDs only allow you to install maps.

the only way i have been able to get the application on my pda, is to use the navigator 4 sd card that i originally got. this is now not valid to activate as i upgraded. have tried to use cd1 of navigator 5 from this position but still get nowhere. i am sorry if you feel i am a numbskull!!, but i haven't got a clue what to do next.

In the complete TTN5 package you should have 7 CD's. CD1 - 6 contains the maps. The 7th CD contains the Application.

They are numbered 1-6 because the same CD's are used by the GO, but it doesn't need the application CD.
