The bluetooth on this unit works just fine. However, I can't seem to get a normal wired mouse-type connection with my Axim Y-cable.

There isn't any mention as to how to do this in the manual, just that it does work in mouse mode. Must the bluetooth switch be on or off? Should the battery be removed?

When you say "my AXIM Y-Cable" - do you mean the cable supplied (or bought) for use with your AXIM or the cable supplied as part of the HAICOM unit?

The difference will be that one will be 'null-modem' and the other won't. You need to check that the send and receive connections are correct. By default a DELL supplied cable will expect to connect to a PC - which is incorrect for connection to a GPS unit - you need to have a 'null-modem' (which simply swaps the send and recieve on one device - OK a proper null-modem will swap a host of other things - but these aren't usually implemented on PDA / GPS serial ports)

I have the 305III unit and the cable supplied by HAICOM works fine on my AXIM.

One other thought - is the description of your COM port on the AXIM correct? Mine had a corrupt ASCII text string. Apparently this is common when installing the driver. If you go to the AXIM users forums (www.aximusers.com) there is an explination of how to fix it. Search for corrupt com port (or similar)
