if it will recieve a signal itll do
when you put the sd card in it wil prompt you to activate the map put in te product code you got in the pack then you will have to set the gps up use other wired gps set it 38400 then select com 5
as for the speed camera up dates yes you can do that have good read at the link below

is this a setting or do i need a wierd gps rev.
Could i use this to walk around a town and find my way around if the rev was in my pocket.
Also do u reckon i will be happy with this as my first system ( daft question but even a daft answer would be good) |

The use wired GPS when in fact you are using a Bluetooth device does at first appear strange, but it does work - give it a try and you will soon find out -
best of luck but its easy to set-up, the other pointer is to put the card into a card reader and back it up on to the HDD of your PC ) don't forget to show hidden files when doing this) just incase the card goes belly-up at some point in the future,
I would also recomend a larger capacity card, then copy the files onto the new card - Mike |

The larger card just gives you more flexibility - i.e. you can load up more than just TomTom, I use OS maps on my device for walking and TomTom for driving, having the larger card just saves swapping (read easy to loose) smaller cards around, it also allows you to put DVD movies onto the card to watch on the unit, or mp3 music files.
As for size the larger the better, the 1 Gig (1GB) cards are about the best value for money cira 35 quid.
It all depends on what you want to do with the unit if its pure sat nav for the car and a phone then the supplied card will be fine.
Cheers - Mike |

The newer more expensive units are more sensitive, and some will work in the glovèbox of the car, therefore they will also operate better in heavily buit up areas - glad to hear you got it all working - cheers Mike |

The software you want is a personal issue depending upon what you want the PDA to do Memory Map is good for OS maps and sat nav while walking, also the spb GPRS traffic monitor is useful to watch your costs when using GPRS - Mike |
