distance from speed cams.

Hi sorry if this has been covered but I'm new to the gps thing.
downloaded the speed camera data base and instaled it fine but i find that im ontop of the camera before the warning sounds. i followed the instructions on the web site but still no change in distance before the warning?
can someone tell me how to get a warning before hitting the cameras oh i have a navman 510
