MapSource City Select Europe - Availability?

Hi All,

I'm thinking about buying a GPSMAP 60C for outdoor (hiking, possibly geocaching) and in-car (auto-routing) use. I've been informed that for the auto routing function, I need to use the City Select Europe as opposed to the Metro Guide, as the latter does not support auto routing.

Question #1: I'm having trouble finding the City Select Europe V7 available for sale in the UK. The only places that seem to carry it are places in Canada and the US. There is a bit on the Garmin site (under pricing and availability) that says "for domestic US market only". Any leads on where I can obtain this from?

Question #2: Does anyone have any experience with the Memory Map Navigator OS Edition - it looks pretty nice but I don't want to shell out if its no good.

Adding CitySelect is going to push up the price!
Buy a Unit with the CitySelect within the package.
It is all very well having CitySelect on the PC, but how much data will you need within the Unit for auto routing in UK or aboad?
All the UK is 160MB!
I have a 1GB SD card within my iQue holding UK and much of Europe!

+ I understand that City Select will put the price up - is there another way to get auto-routing capability?
+ To what resolution is the basemap in the 60C? - I can't find details on the Garmin site.

Expansys list the 60C as a discontinued product and they don't carry the City Select - no help there I'm afraid but thanks for the link. I'll try Garmin UK this afternoon.

Thanks Strumble, I'd just found that myself and was about to post a link to it.

I rang Garmin, and after a long time on hold 8O they informed me that the City Select is available for the GPSmap60C only with the automotive bundle (as in the link that strumble posted).

This, of course, is made blindingly obvious in all the literature and websites. Rolling Eyes

I remember asking Garmin this a while ago, before I bought my GPS10. I said, what if I don't want the Automotive kit, why don't you sell just the maps? The reply was that they 'just didn't' and that I could sell the rest of the Automotive kit on eBay, or lob it in the bin!

I can see the quest is cheaper, but I'll have to look at the spec to check it's what I want.
