Camera warnings without a planned route?

Hi all

Ihave just aquired my first satnav device, a Blue Media BM 6300 PNA.
A question I would like to ask of you more savvy forum members is this.
Can I use this just to alert me of safety cameras etc, without having to plan a route each time I venture out. I am thinking of times when you may generally know an area, but would like to have a warning should you be near a camera siting area.
If it is possible could someone please give me an idea of how to set the thing up for this.

Doh!
What a dimwit I must be. Took it out with me this morning, turned it on and it just did what I wanted. Picked up all the cameras around here without needing a planned route.
I can't believe how dense I must look. I tried it the other day on a short journey and it didn't find any satellites so I just presumed that it wouldn't work like that.
