Tomtom 5 and haicom Hi204S

I am using TT5 with 5.10 update and an Ipaq 4150 with a wired haicom Hi-204S reciever. I am taking between 10-15 mins to get a fix. Once I have the fix if I turn the car off and then restart to simulate a stop the software refuses to fix again for another 20-25 mins. This is driving me mad. If I reinstall TT3, I get a fix in 1-2 seconds no problem. The software drivers for TT5 seem to be really bad.

I have tried just about everything mentioned in the forums but no luck. Incidentally I do have everything set up correctly. Other wired GPS, 4800 baud etc etc.
Any help would be most appreciated. At the moment I'm back to TT3.
