Excessive heating in TomTom car mounting kit

Hi

I bought this TomTom Custom Car Mouting kit from PDAMODS.com (see the item here: http://www.pdamods.com/proddetail.asp?prod=A11CRXDLX50MNT&cat=112).

I found that by putting my Dell Axim 50v into the cradle, the Dell became really hot after about 5-10 minutes to the point of damaging the electronics inside that I had to remove it. Even the plastic rest at the back of the cradle is hot to the touch.

The cradle also has RJ11 connector output to power the TomTom bluetooth GPS and removing the cable to powe the GPS made no difference to the amount of heat generating in the cradle.

Is this a known problem with this particular Mounting kit? If I leave the Dell running with Tom Tom without slotting into the cradle then it runs fine, but then the battery drains very quickly.

Shall I return the mounting kit and buy something else instead?
