Hi,
referring to Lutz Bendlins answer
"All you need to do is move the \Program Files\Navigator folder to the CF card, and change the shortcut in \Windows\Start Menu."
of how to move TT5 to CF or SD card I have some questions:

1) How do you create a shortcut in the Start Menu,
2) How do you update the TomTom shourtcut in the Today screen
3) When application is moved to the SD card, are there any performance consequences from this of some significance
4) Are there any other way to install TT5 on PDA's with battery backed up memory such as my HX4700 ?

Apreciate some views on this.

The shortcut in the Windows Start menu is easy. Using Active Sync, click Explore, My Device, Windows, Start menu. You can see your existing shortcut (which won't work any more as it's pointing to the wrong place) so you should delete it. Now go to the storage card where you have put the application (to do this you click Explore, My Device,SD [or CF] card). You now have two open windows, one for the Windows Start menu and one for the storage card. In the storage card window, right click on the application folder and drag it to the Windows Start menu window. Release the button on your mouse and from the drop-down menu which appears select create shortcut here and it's done.
I've not found how to get the link from the Today screen to work - perhaps someone else can help. It's not a problem for me, as I have CheckPOInt on the Today screen, and I always open TomTom through that.
TomTom seems to work just as well with the application on my SD card as it did from PDA memory.

Robin2,
many thanks for this comprehensive description for putting the TT5 application on the SD/CF card.

It would of course be of quite some interest to several of us if anyone cares to educate us on how to change the references to the shortcuts on the Today's screen.

Again, thank you guys ....

Another way of getting going after a flat battery.

Download and save the 5.21 update from the tomtom site.

Unzip, open the new folder, then the pocketpc folder.

Copy tomtom.cab and ttn.cab folders.

Put a new folder on you SD card and name it, for example, Rescue, and

paste the two .cab files into it.

Should your battery go flat, plug into a power source and choose Start - Programmes - File Explorer - Storage Card - Rescue. Then tap on the .cab files, either one first it doesn't matter, and it will get your navigation up and running.

If you use this method of CAB files to re-install (which is handy) make sure you set the actual CAB file attribute to read only, otherwise the CAB file will self erase when you run it - Mike

Sorry Tullinge, and Mike, I remembered to pass on your advice but forgot to add the bit about changing to read only. Embarassed
