Family member has bought TT Go 500 whilst on holiday (still on holiday)
There problem seems to be a lack of satellites and then losing the signal.
3-5 sats is the max they seem to acquire and then lose them quite regularly.
I use the PDA version so I cannot really help them that much. They have a Laguna and if my memory serves me right it has a blue tint to the windscreen this could possibly be affecting them although they have used my PDA version with no probs.
Is there any product activation they should do before use, as it is being used straight out of the box or would a reset help?
Sorry this is a bit sketchy but I am getting the info over the phone and they are not technical minded really. |

They seem to have an athermic windscreen, like a lot of French cars, they will almost certainly need an external aerial.
They can check by seeing how many satellites they get when the GO is outside the car.
There may be a "gap" in the windscreen to allow the signal to pass, probably near the rear view mirror. French cars need this gap so that the automatic autoroute barrier (telepeage) activators can work. The activation box is stuck to the windscreen. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

Hi...
I think you will find it is only the window issue. I have a Citroen C5 and I had exactly the same problems as yourself. As has already been stated, an external ariel will definately do the trick.
I only have mine threaded through the trim to the back parcel shelf but the difference is remarkable.
God luck and take care.
Cheers

I've got a Laguna... it is the window
The TT is better than my other units as it manages a signal most of the time.
Get the external ariel and this problem will disappear totally. _________________ Thanks,

Thanks all just spoke to them again, 3 sats in the car and 7 out,so looks like they need the ext anntenae or a new car !!
Doubtful if they will get one from any of the high street stores though so will just have to struggle on with what they have got. |

Before I got my ext antenna, I stuck the mount to the drivers door window and managed a signal most of the time (the door windows tend not to be coated), actually with a bit of fiddling with the angle of the mount I could get a very good view of the go screen!
Just be careful not to hit the electric window button! :P |
