Hi, wanted to add a (French) destination which Destinator doesn't recognise the address of. Tried browsing to it's location but couldn't then tap map and add it as a Favourite.
Have got round the problem for now by using Autoroute to get Lat/Long of destination and creating my own My Favorites file but obviously if I add stuff to this within Destinator I wouldn't be able to add furher lat / long favourites unless theres some way of backwards converting the DAT file to a CSV for editing.
Is this possible?

As the CSV to DAT conversion is an import function, edit your CSV file then re-import it to replace the DAT file.

Choose different Category names to keep seperate those Items you edit in Destinator and those you edit in CSV.

Alternatively, you may find that moving Items between Category within Destinator removes your need to edit outside Destinator.

Thanks for that - I think the separate categories is probably the solution. I was trying to keep everything in the favourites category but this became a mix of items added throguh map 'browsing' and those input manually through CSV conversion which is why I had the problem. I think favourites + CSV Favourites should solve it for me.
Thanks again.

PS When I 'browse' France it keeps dragging me back to Paris unless I keep setting different origins on the way to where I want to look - is there a way I can just browse where I like (sorry this is off topic but just in case)

If you select a Fovorite or POI item near where you want to browse you can tap SHOW. Scrolling and Zooming work, but unfortunately, the facilities in SHOW are limited. For example it's not possable to find street names in SHOW, or to set a Favorite.

So, setting different origins seems to be the best way to browse a locality.

Still on the DAT editing road - can the POI files within Destinator be changed / overwritten? I want to add my own list of hotels but if I add them as favourites it will only let me navigate to s specified one but won't tell me where the nearest ones are (like it does for true POI categories). Could I just overwrite a POI file that I don't use with my own list to get this?

You need a POI editor to make/alter POI data. As far as I know no-one has made a POI editor for Destinator, and Destinator do not offer one from their Forum. A few posts have suggested some people were attempting to build a POI editor, but all seem to have given up (due to a lack of information about the propriatry file format).

As you have found, a POI editor would be useful to customise POIs to our individual needs.
