|

I'm reasonably confident with TTN5, and like using it to get about, but i have a couple of niggles with the software. The solutions are probably quite simple, but does anyone know how to get it to do the following:
1, When it's finished working out a route it wont just start navigating, you have to press done at the bottom of the overview map, before it will go into navigation mode. This is only mildly annoying when you are setting off, but when you are trying to get it to recalculate a route on the fly to avoid a traffic hold up, its a right royal pain in the arse. Is there some box i need to check or uncheck to get rid of this screen? (i'd call it a feature, but that would imply it had some form of usefullness)
2, I've been using skux menu builder to get the menu's slimmed down, but would rather not use it as i'd like my portrait and landscape screens. The only problem with moving back to the origional menu's is half the icons are useless crud, seemingly put in for mongo's. I dont need or want twenty diffrent help icons, or endless screens dedicated to useless bluetooth functionality. So does anyone know of another way of getting a slimmed down version of the origional menu's, so i have full functionality without the crud?
3, Finally In TTN3 i could have just the pda in my hand, not connected to a GPS device, but it would still show me a demo route, which was handy for showing other people what it could do when not in my car, now with TTN5 all i can do is grin and murmer 'well if it was connected to the GPS, then you'd be able to see it all'. The demo route function does nothing without an aerial connected, which kind of misses the point, after all if i have a gps antenna connected, then i'm going to be using the real navigation facility, no GPS, then i may well want to see a demo. _________________ TT 730 |

You can get slimmed down veersions of the menu's using Skux menu builder. Just leave off the icons / features you dont require. If you wanted to, you could have one single menu |

That is true, but I think he means that as soon as you use customised menus you lose the functionality to switch between portrait and landscape modes. Anyone know of a way to switch between these modes whilst using a custom menu?

Perhaps I am missing the point here but I have used the Skux menu builder and can still swop from portrait to landscape....? It is on the Change Preferences Screen.

Steve,
could you post your menu here so I can have a look as I've tried everything to ge the ROTATE command to work but it just rotates the screen by 180' (upside down).
If you've got it too work you will make a lot of people V.Happy

Somebody did in fact post a Work-Around for 90' screen rotation with custom menus. I cant find the post but the essence was:
After creating a custom menu, change the file name of TomTom.mnu (this is located in the SDKRegistry folder) to something else.
When TTN5 is next loaded it will default to the original menu. You can now rotate the screen as you wish in 90' increments.
Close TTN5 and re-edit the mnu file back to TomTom.mnu which will 'bring back' the customised menu.
Clearly this is fine if you don't want to to accress this feature on a frequent basis whilst driving. _________________ John

The same can of course be achieved by cutting an pasting TomTom.mnu to another directory and then moving it back again, rather than a temporary name change. _________________ John

Just tried it again and defo turns through 90 degrees at a time. Send me a PM with your e-mail addy and I will send you the TOMTOM.mnu file. I only messed with the main menu icons, ie getting the Exit Application icon on the first screen, etc. I didn't mess with Change Preferences menu - not sure now if you had the option anyway.
