Can anyone advise me of the following enquiry, on a tomtom 300 i need a map of spain as i plan to have a weeks holiday shortly. how do i get a map of spain

If you go to TomTom you can buy an SD card for 99 Euros. I don't know the delivery lead time.
You could also order the Maps of Western Europe, the new version is not out yet, but they come on CD's so that you are able to put multiple maps on one SD card.
If you're in a real hurry I believe there is a Internet supplier in France who has stocks of the Current MOWE. I don't remember the URL.

if i know a friend of a friend who has the map of spain on a sd card can I loan his map and use it im my tomtom 300 or does the map have to be registered to a particular tomtom unit

It would have to be activated for your device (TTG).
If you are able to get an activation code from ttcode.com then if your friend had a problem he would not be able to activate his map or upgrade in the future.

If this is an "original TT map on SD-card", unaltered, just the way he did take it from the original and sealed package, then it "might" work. These cards are "pre activated" and should work in any GO without the need to enter any code.
However, this friend must not copy the content to another (bigger) card or this copy has to be "activated" before it can be used. The activation requires the product code for the original card and thus influences the license on the original card. That one probably will still work as before but the problems arise when either you or your friend try to order an update. Similar you never would be able to transfer the map to a bigger card yourself, as YOU cannot activate it there since it is already activated for a different GO.
It might technically work out as a loan for a trip it definitely does not work out as parallel usage. The TomTom license however restrict this definitely. |
