Tomtom Go & SD card format

A colleague is having a problem with his tomtom go SD card. The SD card can no longer be read in his card reader (has also tried pda with no
joy). He has a backup of the card.

I could reformat the card. How are SD cards formatted for the tomtom. Do they use FAT16 or FAT32 file system. Can SD cards used on the tomtom be easily read by other card readers? Thank you for any assistance.

Doesn't really matter but you should try FAT16 first.
