I've just spoken to HP (8/7/05 @2:00pm) and had a meeting with TT this morning and have confirmed that V5.1 will be released next Friday.

I'm not sure if the release will be just to HP or all users, but in the past TT normaly post updates on a friday so we will have to wait and see....

Would be good - do we have any idea what is being fixed in 5.1 (hoping it is the VGA memory leak and the 100% CPU thing that makes my PDA sooooo hot)

excellent news - can we start a 5.1 bug list now?

Twisted Evil

one thing that is better in ttn5 than 3 (SO WILL DOUBTLESS BE REMOVED IN 5.1 - only kidding) is that I hard reset last night and reinstalled all my programs and tomtom still had my list of recent destinations, home location and favorites plus poi warnings. All I had to do was copy the pocketgps data file over and pair my gps and phone and away I went.

The keyboard issue on devices with hardware keyboards will have been resolved, but the 100% CPU one has not (at least, not yet). Can't comment on the VGA problems as I don't have a VGA device...

The big problem for me is the loss of performance between TT4 and TT5 when displaying user POIs. TT4 could display over 12,000 and still show you where you were in real time, TT5 can't manage 12. Is that fixed?

Shame we don't have a fix list yet, but I suppose it's wait and see.

TT5 is good tho. Okay some annoying issues, but it gets you there and is easy to use.

andy why are you running flight mode v5 works fine on the xda2i just make sure you have a corperate set up or delete o2 active it runs best in turbo mode with no lock ups and you can still receive and make calls via a bt headset whilst using v5

Why do people keep defending sub-standard software? This is the only reason companies such as Tomtom can release something that is so shite.

Yes there are problems with TT V5 it clearly has not been tested, even the installtion process does not work correctly. I could accept this if there customer support /technical supports teams even attempted to answer the logs instead of just closing them without reading them....

I'm not convinced that the xda2i phone is to blame. Accepted those getting the lockups are saying flight mode stops the lockups - but many of us using xda2i aren't getting the lockups at all. I've never had one.

We are all using the same o2 rom/radio version and the same tomtom version - but there is one thing we all have that is different - our SD card.

My theory is that some SD cards are causing a conflict with the xda2i phone, and causing tomtom to lockup.

I've read quite a few posts on xda forums saying changing to another SD card make/size/speed stops the lockups. If this is true then I'm not sure how a solution will be found. It might be tomtom coming with a fix or it might need a new radio stack for xda2i. Or it might be that some SD cards will never work properly with xda2i and tomtom.

When TomTom V3 was released a number of people, me included were experiencing lockup especially on the Ipac. Most solved it by changing the SD card. I switched to a Panasonic and haven't had a lockup since. Why should V5 be any different?

Tend to agree, I'm using the XDA IIi and have not had a single lockup, I've used the corporate install mode, and have the radio switch on for the traffic updates.
