I have recently updated my GPS receiver that I use with my iPAQ 2210 running TomTom Navigator 3.03.
My old receiver was a Hailcom CF based system that is not sensitive enough to work reliably in my new car that has a heated windscreen.
I purchased a BT74R Bluetooth receiver on ebay which is stated to be NMEA-0183 V2.2 compatible (other users on the forum seem to quite like it).
Selecting standard MNEA drivers in TomTom (at all speeds) allow the system to connect and synchroise. Unfurtunatly when I get in the car and start driving the connection freezes after what appears to be a random time, the GPS location remains static and the communication dots stop traversing the screen. The bluetooth conection remains connected until the GPS is swithed off.
I downloaded a copy of GPS Info. This seems to work fine as does a copy of TomTom 5 running on a different iPAQ (model not known).
I can't send the GPS back because it seems to be working. Has anyone got any ideas as to how to I get it to work with my TomTom?

This seems to be a common problem with the 2210 and bluetooth GPS receives. I had a the same setup and Tomtom froze about every half hour. In the end i gave up and am now using a hardwire GPS device. _________________ Steve I |

From what I can remember a lot of bluetooth/2210 combo issues were cured by uninstalling the 3.03 Gps drivers and installing 2.06 . also the 2210 is very fussy on the choice of storage card with CF being the best choice .

Installing the maps on a CF card cured the problem - Thanks
Strange - my SD card was a 50X version so it's not a speed issue.
Now my GPS doesn't use the CF slot this is a really good solution. |
