Has anyone successfully connected using BT Mobile? I have an Ipaq 5550 with TomTom 5 and am trying to connect to BT Mobile though a Sony Ericsson T610. The bluetooth works fine, and the ipaq instructs the phone to dial up, and it does, but I get an error message back.

I think the problem lies in not knowing the dial-string modem settings. Both BT and S-E deny all knowledge of these and I have searched the web to no avail. I've tried numerous guesses to no avail.

I know it should work - I have connected via Vodaphone with a T68i the settings for which I found on the web somewhere.

It all depends on which wholesaler BT Mobile are using for your service. On their older T-Mobile based service it will not work and on their newer Vodaphone based service it will. The only way apart from asking them, to know which supplier they use for you is that the newer service usually displays the local area code beneath the "BT" at the top centre of your screen as below for Outer London:

BT
0208

The data charges don't appear to be detailed except on your bill and they appear to be around £7 per MB.

The only dial string setting you need is *99# which will dial APN1.

Thanks for the advice. I've checked things out and must have the older service. Lesson learned I suppose for when I change supplier in August....
