I have download a load of POI's from POIHandler using POIEdit.

These files have copied correctly to my map file on my SD card, but not all of them show up in either the manage POI option of TTN5 or the navigate to option.

Is there a maximum number of user POI's in TTN5. I don't wish to display them all just have them for navigation.

I used to use CheckPoint on TTN3 with perfect results and I understand that I can still use this in TTN5 to manage POI's but without notification/warnings.

I would prefer to use Checkpoint but need to sort out why not all of my POI's are picked up by TTN5.

Any ideas???

Ian

TT5 only supports 40 categories of POIs.

To restrict the number of POI's is laughable.

I use checkpoint to download all petrol stations, speed cameras, and numerous other POI's. I don't need to display them all on the map, but what is the point of having POI's if your can't carry all you are likely to need.

This is very poor, and I hope someone comes up with a hack so that this can be increased.

I have deleted the inbuilt ones but no difference.

Do you think you would get more if you subscribed to the TomTom POI service because £40 is a lot if you only can update 40.

My understanding is that we are restricted to 40 imported POIs (in addition to TT5's POIs), not 40 in total.

Just had quick look at POI North Tyneside area.
nearest cinema is Edinburgh.............. Question Question
And as for geographical accuracy of some I have looked at....oh dear..
Someone had better inform TT that CONTENT IS KING and they should have words with data supplier.
Looks like in great number of cases they have positioned POI from post code info

TomTom's own POI's are useless,

I might be able to find the area of say a petrol station but I've got 1 local one on the wrong side of the road (Shows the petrol station where the school is), and a tesco's petrol station on the wrong side of a dual carrage way (I then get navigated to the wrong end of the carrage way),

I would have thought TomTom and TeleAtlas would have a lot of these fixed now,

Also do we report POI error's to TeleAtlas?

Tomtom Reply

You can have as many POIs as the memory can handle.
But just a certain amount will be showed on the map, so you have observed right.

With best regards,

The TomTom Customer Support Team

Question
Can you advise if there is a maximum number of user POI's.

I have copied my own in ov2 format but they do not show in the enable POI screen.

It appears that the most I can have is 39, is this correct and can I enable more?

Ian

My Follow up reply
I do not think that this is correct.

I have approx 70 POI's on my SD card with both the correct BMP and ov2 files in the map directory as I did with V3, however, these do not appear in either the manage POI option nor the navigate to option.

This appears to be a bug as I understand a number of other have noticed the 40 POI limit I have observed with V5 (upgrade).

This is really restrictive as I need to move POI' to another directory to be able to navigate to the ones I need.

Can you please look into this!!!

Looks like they don't even know the limitations of their own software Rolling Eyes

Dear Mr Hill,

The software can show around 40 on the screen but you can have as many as you like (memory wise).
Anyway we will pass the information to our development team and they will have a look at it.
Please visit our web site for update on software on our support site.

With best regards,

The TomTom Customer Support Team

Absolute Rubbish, yes you can have as many as you like in memory, but you cannot use them to navigate to as they do not show up in the POI screen. Sad
