does anybody knows abt it or any other idea to upload maps? i have Mapsource, but i want to upload images tht r in .fx3 format. Is thr any other method to upload maps to GPSMap 76s other than MapSource?

Hi and
The BAD: There isn't an easy way to upload non-Garmin maps to a Garmin GPS.
The GOOD: You CAN create routes or tracks from a map in Fugawi and upload these to the GPS. It's not the same as uploading a map though and can be a bit tedious.
The UGLY: You can create your own maps if you are REALLY determined but it involves a LOT of work. You can't just convert a raster map (GIF/JPG/PNG) into a Garmin map, you have to load it, calibrate it and trace it.
Robert Elsinga's website has some good examples of home made maps. I think they were done using GPSMapEdit and/or cGPSMapper.
If you are really interested in trying to create your own maps, check out:

As far as i studied, Fugawi can upload maps, tracks n routes to PDA using sync functionality, but i didnt find GPSmap 76s to support sync function. kindly tell me how to upload tracks n routes.

It's a while since I did this.
I think you have to create the route or track in a format that you can import into Garmin's Mapsource program and then use Mapsource to upload the track/route.
You may also want to have a look at OziExplorer if you haven't done so already.
Good luck! _________________ Gone fishing! |
