|
|
Can someone recommend a Palm software solution that will route me across Europe and at the same time have street level mapping in Italy, France and Switzerland? I have a T3 and am happy to buy a BT GPS either separately or bundled depending on which software package I go for.
A cursory review of available products seems to show that:
-ViaMichelin Mapsonic will not route across borders.
-TomTom will but only via major roads.
-Navman 4470 seems like it only comes with UK maps but I would need to pay more to Europe and then I am not sure if it is street level.
Appreciate any recommendations on Palm OS solutions that you guys may have.[/list] |

The 4470 (Navman BT receiver with V3 maps) hasn't been released yet, but at that price it's likely to come with a single region unlocked. Unlocking the rest of Europe will probably cost a further £149, as it does for Navman's other products. The 4460, which uses V2 maps, is available but if I were you I'd try to find out from Navman when the 4470 will be released, as the maps are newer and the software is better. _________________ Tim |

Thankyou for the heads up Tim. If I go down the Navman path I will certainly wait for the 4470 then. Do you happen to know if the Navman maps will allow you route across and near European borders? Assuming of course I purchased and unlock relevant maps. Or is it going to be like viaMichelin which generally only allows routing within a given country. |

Again Tim, Thanks for the answer to my question you placed in the Navman forum. Quote: | The simple answer is "Yes". Navman SmartST can route across national boundaries.

Apologies for the cross post. |
