I want to load the speed camera database to my TT300, but I am hopeless when it comes to doing anything computer based. I have been told that I have to register with Active sync? and that there would be a link on this site. Well...I can't find it.

Can some kind person point me in the right direction....please!

IT'S HERE!
Don't worry about Activesync - nothing to do with the TTGo at all. Rolling Eyes

Just one thing to add - when you unzip the file, be sure to use the "Use folder names" option.
Then it will become much clearer which files to copy across to the TTG. I used Speed Zoned OV2/BMPs

But the most important instruction is the first - BACKUP your SD card to the PC before making any updates!

Good luck !

Well, I gave it a go...put the TT CD in PC...Went thru until I got to the Backup/Restore feature...powered the TT..instruction said to click on Right Arrow and all I get is a flicker and the screen stays the same. I will now give up. I shall just continue to drive with my eyes open and hope!

Thank you for your time.

Come on, don't give in.

I meant to add a rider to my backup comment in that Backup to TomTom is different to Backup in the computer/SD card sense.

TomTom's Backup will only backup changes that you have made - and you probably haven't made any! What you want to do is create an image copy of the SD card on your Pc. Then if anything goes awry with, for example, loading the Safety Camera info, you can restore your original files.

So, to create an image copy:

Connect TT to switched on Pc via USB cable. Switch on TT.
Pc will then 'recognise' that you have attached a 'USB device' and it should recognise it as a TT.
Next open Windows Explorer and create a New folder somewhere on your Pc hard drive to receive the contents of the SD card. Remember the name of the folder and where it is.

Still in Windows Explorer, on the left side of the screen, you should see 'Removable Device' somewhere.
Single left click on this to select it and then single right click and choose Copy option. This will copy the entire contents of the 'Removable Device' into the Pc memory.
Then single left click on the newly created folder on the Hard drive (to select it), then single right click and choose Paste.
Voila - all the files should now appear in the newly created folder. You have created a backup of your SD card (BTW, there should be 8 Sub Folders and 10 files under the newly created folder).

If you are still getting stuck, then by all means contact me directly via email.

Andy.

Many thanks...I will try tomorrow evening with a fresh mind. I use my laptop for digital photos and browsing the net...but when it comes to downloading/moving files ect...I'm clueless!

Once again, many thanks.

Norman.

Hi wyattnorm,

I decided to download the speed camera database tonight after reading this thread. I've not bothered to date but boy am I impressed :-)

Once you've backed up you TTG it is a relatively straight forward job to "drag and drop" the contents of the pocket GPS camera folder into the TTG Great Britain Maps folder.

Don't give up on this it really is a worthwhile addition to the TTG.

I tested it tonight using the new DEMO mode after entering a destination that I knew had cameras on it. I had the demo running at 390 percent rate and the cameras on the route could clearly be seen and the warnings heard. Excellent :-)

My next step is to install the new POI voice sounds instaed of the bells and bongs that are standard :-)

Stick in there.... it's worth it.
