I'm not sure whether there's an ideal way to do this - but here are my thoughts.

Make a copy of your existing SD card on your hard disk, then wipe and format the card. Install the new application and map from the supplied CD (ignoring the supplied SD card). Copy all your POI files (.ov2 and .bmp) from your backup onto the SD card.

The only problem with this is that you will have to re-enter all your favourites, home location, POI warnings etc.

An alternative which MAY work is this. If you have already upgraded the application to v5, and got everything set up using the old map, you may simply be able to run the CD-based program to delete the old map and install the new one. That pre-supposes that the v5 appliaction supplied with the 79 Euro upgrade is the same as the one which you can download for free.

I'm sure that people will be trying out these - and other - ideas, and will be posting the results for the benefit of others. Most people will want to upgrade the maps without having to re-configure everything else, if at all possible. Whilst using the new SD card may be Plug&Play, it certainly won't replicate all your existing settings - so something cleverer is required!
