Upgrade to v.5 - even recent purchases will have to pay!

A colleague of mine has recently purchased a HP ipaq (4700) and wants to get TT navigator, but what he want to know is - if he was to purchase TTN3 now would he have to pay (again) for the upgrade to TTN5 which is due out in a few weeks.

Also what is the likely upgrade route:
Older TTN3 users
Newly order TTN3

Thank you for your query. We can only advise you to wait until TomTom Navigator 5 is available to purchase. You would still need to pay in order to upgrade to Navigator 5 from Navigator 3. For a list of compatible PDA's for Navigator 5, please see the URL below.

I have hjeard thata couple fo time snow, so it certinly seasm thats whats going to happen.

Not seen this on any PC software before and I do think it will annoy quite a few new customers. After having just paid out for TomTom3 they get a email saying "it's out of date, please send us £XXs for the new version".

I am off around Europe in early May and was wanting to get the full street level maps of Europe. Now obviously thats not going to be practicle anymore as I would like to upgrade the software to TT5 but then the Europe TT3 maps are of no use. I cant justify £100 for the maps and only use them once,I'll have to look at other options....
