|
|
hi there I am a newbie with GPS, I am planning to buy the new TTN 5 for my treo 650, does any body know when the US version is coming out, or is it a good idea to buy the TTN 2004 and then upgrade it. So should I wait or go ahead and buy the TTN 2004. Thanks to anyone who answers.

Go ahead and buy the current version. Most likely it will be upgraded to v5 for free _________________ Lutz

Not sure what you mean with GPS locator. Overall the UI is not too different between the versions. _________________ Lutz

Sorry its not gps locator, its GPS receiver, I am just new for the gps so dont know a lot of terminologies, but anyways, I tried to check the website and dropped them a couple of emails, but I still haven gotten the answer on when they are coming out with the TTN 5 US version.
So as per you I should buy the TTN 2004 and then can upgrade the whole thing (along with the receiver)? Thanks for answering though.

As per your suggestion I might give a try and buy the 2004 version of TTN.

they will not be giving you new hardware. just a free upgrade to the software. you should check to see if the hardware has been upgraded between releases. there are new chips that have come out so you should check to see if the new units have been upgraded to one of these chips. if not then order the 2004. |

it does look like the new 2005 hardware has the new chipset. i'd either hold off buying 2004 and getting the old chipset or buy seperate hardware and the 2004 software. (then get the free software upgrade.) |

I just got an email from Tomtom people in USA, they said that they are gonna come out with TTN 5 in mid May and the price range for the wired and wireless is about $249.99 - $299.99
Hope this is right.
