Hello experts,
I just bought iPAQ 4700 on thursday along with Syson Bluetooth GPS Plus. My friend gave me TOM TOM navigator 3, which I have installed successfully along with the Maps too.
When I activate bluetooth on my IPAQ 4700, it connects to the sysonchip successfully. The GPS LED (orange) on the sysonchip gets the connection from the satellite. But, when I click on the TOM TOM GPS, none of the channels show it found the connection.
The second problem is the bluetooth connection between the sysonchip and the iPAQ drops after some time. What can I do to keep the connection ALWAYS running and make TOM TOM talk to the GPS receiver..
I really appreciate your help.
Regards,
Hana

We do not like to hear this kind of stuff.

On your Pocket PC go to Start > Settings > System > GPS > GPS, select the appropriate COM port and "NMEA Standard 38400" and then check the checkbox. Go to the "Status" tab and report back if you see the black dots wandering.

thnaks for your reply,

Here's my config:

1) Bluetooh Manager :
Syson BT GPS 8341: GPS OUTPUT (started)
Active COnnection : ALL 5 Green DOTS OK
If I click on status on this connection, it still shows, its connected.

2)Sysconchip GPS Viewer:
Tools ->Port Setting changed to : NMEA, PORT 5, Baudrate 38400.
Clicked OK, but still no effect with the signals.

3) Start>setting>GPS>GPS ( can't see any dots).:
TOM TOM GPS
Bluetooth Serial Port COM5.

Oh my GOD.. it got disconnected again. Sad

is there any other software/patches needed???

Thanks for your help,

Hello,
Additional info:
I had a chat with the HP Support center, and we went through the hard reset process which changed back to the original setting, which is fine. I then reactivated the bluetooth to detect sysonchip, which it did successfully. When I connect the PDA it connects successfully, and drops the connection again after 2min and 10 sec. So HP has closed the call and back to GPS bluetooth vendor :-(
Any other tip??
Thanks,

You can do one experiment:

Connect the GPS in bluetooth manager.
But do not run any software.
See how long it will stay connected. Normally, it will stay connected forever until it is disconnected manually.

We've seen that a lot recently, albeit more with Sony chipsets. You can try to discharge the BT receiver completely (take the batteries out and wait a day) or attempt a factory reset with the GPS tool that came with the receiver.

thanks for your tips guys..
after searching on the forum, i installed Winfat Navigator. It keeps the connection as long as I disconnet (using port 8). The bad part is, after I install tom tom navigator, it locks the port and allows winfast access only port 5 and doesn't connect to the sysonchip Sad
meanwhile I will try as you guys suggested discharge the whole battery for a day and start later..
