Hi,
With the help of many advice/posts on this site I have managed to get winfast to display both nmea/sirf data streams but without sufficient info to provide a fix. Are the scrolling tabled info headers that I see being transmitted and received but without the so important time refs and associated data or are these headers provided by the onboard chip on the gps card and the data only streamed from above.
My reason for asking is that I have blue light activity on winfast indicating a live feed but the activity led on the gps unit shows no sign of life at all. Am I looking at a faulty syson or is it still a conflict problem between the two units.
It took some time to find com port 6 which is the only one to provide any hint of success.

Any further help would be much appreciated

Sailor

My 4700 uses com port 8 for its GPS reception (Bluetooth) - it wasn't there by default I had to load up a patch to get it to work with TT3 - just a thought

Take the setup out of doors and leave it with a clear view of the sky for at least 15 minutes. It can take a long time to get a position fix with a 'factory fresh' GPS receiver. All the information needed comes from the GPS satellites.

As Mike mentions, you should use Navigator 3.07 and GPS 3.07 on a Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition machine like your hx4700. These can be found either on the update CD if there was one in your TomTom Navigator pack, or on the TomTom web site.

Fact : it took me 48hrs and all at once "it" came streaming down (or up ?) on my hx4700 with HI 401, the BT always worked (altough I sometimes wondered after she brooke up (BT) after a mere 35 seconds one time and 2 minutes another time and so on, the slipper standing on a PC about four foot away. What I have now = date, UTC, Direction (356.38) speed 0 (I'm happy about that in my office) Status: 3D, HDOP : 1.5, Pdop : 4.7
what Lattitude and longitude, means, that if I give you these then you know where I live : N 51°10.4378' by E 003°05.1491'
What does the other things mean and why can't I still make a fix in Autoroute ? By the way, I was searching on COM 8 when it started to work, but my dear PPC keeps going back to COM 1 (isn't that the mouse com ?) , I can choose in AR, but it doen's make any difference. Should I try another navigation program ? Can you help ? Fobe.
