Hello everyone,

For those of you who don't know, on the M4 (westbound only) there is a toll bridge - namely the "Second Servern Crossing". How can I ask TomTom Navigator 3 to avoid this toll and take me around it? I can see the red line across the road when I pass it, so I assume that it knows there is a toll point on the road. However I can't find an option to avoid toll roads, only the London congestion charge zone. Do I just have to set up an "Avoid Area" on the map screen or can I specifically ask TTN to avoid all toll roads??

Thanks,
Greg

You can only set an avoid across the road, there is no option to avoid Tolls in TT3.

I actually live on the western side of the Severn crossings M4 and M48 !
What I have done to avoid paying the toll is: when route planning is set "map view" to maximum magnification then set avoids on the westbound lanes of both roads which the toll booths are on..this leaves ttn3 free to use the eastbound lanes when planning trips out of Wales

Frankly at £4.80, against the cost of fuel, going via the Gloucester route does not make much economic sense once you add in depreciation based on pence per mile...

It depends how far north of the crossings one is when making a decision from an economic point of view Exclamation

Thank you for all your replies.

I'm usually travelling between Swansea in south Wales and Durrington near Salisbury in Wiltshire. I definately agree that it's worth paying the toll rather than routing via Gloucester - took me AGES on the way back today!!!

Thanks again, and happy GPS'ing!!!

Greg

At least you should know where you are at all times. 'Wink'
