I just got the BT-401 with the 303S receiver. The problem is that I can't get the receiver to work on the Palm. I got the 303S to work using the PS/II-serial cable and also on a laptop using a PCMCIA/CF adapter. So the problem seems to be with the BT-401.
I have tried using a demo of Mapopolis and several other GPS palm programs. I have successfully paired the BT-401 with the Palm using the "0000" passkey. I have also successfully connected the various Palm GPS software with Bt-401 as the blue light goes solid. The problem is that it seems like the software is not receiving any data. All the programs come back with no gps found messages. Have any of you experienced similar problems? Does this sound like I got a defective BT-401? Any suggestions? I have tried so many variations of starting up the Palm and the BT-401 that I can't think of anything else. By the way, if it matters, I have a Palm T3.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I was so anxious to get this set up and running that it's been a bit of a let down. I can't wait to use this in my car as I am the worst when it comes to directions. |

Just a followup in case anyone goes through a similar situation. I pretty much narrowed it down with something wrong with the bluetooth. The question was was it going to be a problem with my T3 or with the Haicom slipper. After having the retailer send me a replacement slipper, the communications look good. I haven't been able to lock onto my position but I am in office building right now so I chalk that as a problem with location. I'll know for sure after I get out of work. |

Any luck - I have the slipper with an ipaq 2210 and was thinking of getting my wife a palm T5 and giving her the haicom gps unit and getting myself a sirf star III bt unit when they come out - so I hope it isn't a palm / slipper general problem.
the haicom has given me no problems in a year of ownership.

Yes, all is good. I can't speak for the T5 since I have the T3. All the various GPS test programs I had are working flawlessly. I just need to pick out a software package to use. I have been leaning towards TomTom Navigator. |
