How do I make TomTom3 take a certain route?

For example I'm travelling from Newcastle to the centre of Leeds.

TomTom will take me off the A1 and into Leeds from the North.

But I happen to know from experience and looking at the map that going to M1 junction 44, then the A639, then M621 junction 7, then M621 junction 3, would be easier and faster. Even tho I don't know where I'm going after that.

How can I tell TomTom that this is the route I want to take?

Yes I know I can drive it myself and let it recalculate but I still find it useful to tell me how many miles I have before the junction etc.

you can do this either tapping alternative route or by blocking the the a roads it will try to take you down or another way would be to add a drive by in the itinerary
