Well I'm up and running with TomTom mobile and very impressed!

The only functionality I have lost in giving up my Road Angel is the laser detection.

I guess standalone laser detectors are available - it would be a good add on if someone did a laser detector which worked with TomTom. I wonder if anyone is planning this???

Hi Bob,

I don’t think that TomTom will bring out a laser detection add-on for TT Mobile.

I’m currently running a Bel Euro 550, which is one of the best radar detectors that you can buy. It also has an inbuilt laser detector. Although to be honest, a laser detector isn’t worth the money.

Generally, by the time that it’s detected a laser targeting you, your speed will have already been recorded. The laser beam is so narrow that you can’t guarantee to pick up reflections from it, unlike radar. There’s also the potential government bill that will out law these devices anyway.

Regards,

There's really no link whatsoever between a laser detector and a navigation system. All camera warnings on navigation systems are GPS based - you don't have a built in radar detector.

The only guaranteed way not to get caught is to keep under the speed limit.
