Using a GPS device in Spain

I have just read somewhere that it is unlawful to use a distracting device in Spain such as a GPS whilst driving? Sad

I didn't notice any of the times I had my Garmin GPS V in the map pocket of my motorbike when I was there last year and the year before. Thanks for the tip, though.

I have been searching the net I hope it's one of those laws like in the UK where you are allowed to use these devices as long as they are hands free!

This is something that California tried to introduce. In a way it's a good thing, GPS's do distract from driving if you are constantly fiddling with them. Not sure whether it's illegal to use them or not though in Spain.

I just hope they don't try to introduce it here else it will be for good!

However I would still be really gratful if anyone could let me know any more details regarding driving with a GPS in spain. I am travelling next week and I am quite nerveous about driving abroad as it is.
