Hi, I've just got an Ipaq 4700 with a TT wired system. When I am in navigator happily travelling along, after a few minutes the screen changes out of Tom Tom to a screen Saver type screen with various preset HP images and the calender. I then have to tap the screen to get the Tom Tom screen back and so it continues every few minutes.... VVV frustrating. I have trawled the menus and the user guide but cant find a setting to stop this anywhere. Can anyone help?

Question 2. I want to pick up e-mail on the 4700 and am thinking of getting a Nokia 7610. Will this do the job for me and what do I need to do settings wise?

Many thanks in advance, cheers,

Luxy.

Can't help on the 4700 issue as I haven't seen one but regarding the phone, as long as the 7610 has Bluetooth then yes it will work.

You will need to enable a GPRS data service via your service provider on the handset and once done you can access the Internet and download email easily. Be aware that GPRS Data is charged by the amount of data i.e. You can remain connected to the service all day for free but you pay for each Mb of data so accessingw eb pages, downloading email etc adds to the cost. Most providers have bundle deals i.e. 10Mb for £20 etc so it is worth investigating as it can get expensive if used with abandon!

I have now got an iPAQ hx4700 (well, actually I've got my second - Expansys sent me a Malaysian unit, which I rejected, but globalpositioningsystems.co.uk came to my rescue with a UK one and Expansys took the Malaysian one back for a full refund).

The issue is Dockware kicking in. Start Dockware, tap and hold, and unselect "Start automatically". That should fix it. Dockware only fires up when you have external power applied, and HP assumed that the machine is in the cradle - but, of course, this is exactly the position you're in "in car". I hate Dockware anyway...

TomTom Navigator 3.07 is recommended for these machines - you can get it from support.tomtom.com - though unfortunately it doesn't support High DPI mode. I refuse to use SE_VGA, as that can cause issues with programs like Pocket Informant.

Unfortunately the VGA WM2003SE machines are new - and getting things working on them can be a bit of an effort. The latest Fitaly beta 3 with the replacement DLL finally works well, but is a pain to install if you don't know what you're doing (hopefully Jean at Textware will package that new DLL into an installer soon). GPSAssist falls over a graphics driver bug - which fortunately can be worked round - I'll post that work round in a moment.
