:D I'm thinking of buying a cigar lighter from Halfords and connecting it to a 12volt supply i have located under the dash, then connecting the TTG power lead to it, as the socket has a built in transformer 12/24volt to 5 volt, and the hiding the lot under the dash. :P
Dose anyone see any problems with this idea

No, that should work. Make sure the output is 5V at about 1.5 to 2 A. You can buy a cheap switching power supply for the old iPAQs - they have the same connector.
