I amm using TT3 and checkpoint, is there an easy way to add a camera that is not on the database.
There is a camera near me that is not listed and not sure of the best way to do this.
Also i have a Petrol station near me that has been there for years but for some reason it doesnt show up is there anyway of adding this as well?
as you can tell from the above i have only just started using a gps and am still new to it all. |

Hi Boggle,
If you’re running CheckPOInt 2.0.2, then you can set-up one of the hardware buttons to add a POI. It then saves the location in an .OV2 file called checkpoint. If you’re running CP 3+ then I believe it’s a lot harder to obtain the data once you’ve recorder the POI.
You can then send in the checkpoint .OV2 file to the "camera" email address.
You can’t update the inbuilt POIs. However there’s nothing stopping you from creating your own Petrol Station POI file.

Yes, CheckPOInt 2.0.2 is a better bet.

I agree with Robert (Privateer) - if you wish to use our camera database, CheckPOInt 2.0.2 is a better bet than version 3.
Please re-record and submit existing cameras, too - we only have the speed limits for a relatively small number of cameras in our database. If people submit this information, we stand a chance of being able to release a worthwhile version of the database with the cameras in separate files according to the speed limit.

On the first page of options, you can set which hardware button you press to record a camera. Make sure TomTom Navigator has the same button set to <Default function> (on the Advanced tab of the Properties pages), otherwise it won't be passed through to CheckPOInt.
When you pass a camera you wish to record, press that button, answer the on screen questions (type of camera and speed limit). Email the CheckPOInt.ov2 file to cameras@pocketgpsworld.com to submit the cameras to Richard (Oldie) who maintains our database. You have to be using CheckPOInt 2.0.2 for this to work properly; it will not work properly with CheckPOInt 3.
Resubmissions of existing cameras with speed limits are welcomed.

Here's an idea - I would devote some time to actively adding speed limits to local cameras if I knew which ones weren't already covered. Is there a map/list you could publish giving current status. Maybe you could offer a small prize for the largest numbers of (confirmed) limits sent in or something.
Splitting the POI files by speed, and being able to have a different voice warning for the current speed limits would be really good! |

Right i have added a speed camera that was not listed including speed.
Where do i find the file i need to email and how do i know if i suceesfully added it?
Also if i do it for one that already exists but i do it to record the speed will i end up with 2 cameras? |

You can find out which cameras we already have speed limits for, as after the camera number, there's an @ sign and the speed limit in mph.
If you open the whole "Gatso" POI file in POIedit, you'll see just how few cameras we have speed limits for.
