I currently use the Navman (Bought in 2002, so try guess the version, as I'm not 100% sure now) for my navigation around the place (UK).

However, I am now getting a new car, and decided I don't want to keep fixing (And sometimes dropping) the navman to the windshield, so have decided to change. I'd like a more car-dedicated device (That tom-tom go looks right) instead of a iPaq, as GPS is all the iPaq is used for.

I'd like one that could use the car radio as speakers, but that's not really a requirement. Just an extra bonus. I'd also like one that can be on all the time, instead of waiting for fixes. It would be better to have an external antenna (Again, not a requirement .. but a nice-to-have). I don't want it fixed to my air vents as I do use the airvents .. for heat and air..

I also don't want it attached to the window, as that's unsafe, and stands out too much.

The car I have bought is a Vauxhall Vectra Estate (2004), and from what I can see (Don't have the car yet) it can't really have a radio type GPS installed, as the current radio/CD is built into the dash. In any case, I'd like a nice big screen (Like the GO) as apposed to a small radio with an arrow.

Could anyone give me products they feel would suit my needs?

Thanks.
Craig

The latest range of Navman receivers provide similiar features as the GO - have you seen those?

Not half as cute as the GO, but hey, that's my personal opinion.

THanks for that. Am looking now.

My problem with Navman is that I have been unhappy with the Navman I currently have. Ok, it's a bit older, but you were stuck with it's POIs, no addon POIs.. couldn't export your favourites..

So it's left me thinking that maybe I should stay clear of Navman. I have been looking for the best price on the GO, and seem to have found £412 (Was it Dabs.com?)

I was hoping it could be more fixed into position. No sucker, and tat the wires could be hidden somehow (Get an Auto Electrician to make a wire from the battery to the GO, stepped to the correct voltage maybe, and wire that from behind the dash?).

Also, (I haven't got the car yet) I might need that external antenna. Would that need separate power? (I only have one lighter socket).

GO looks good .. to .. GO .. but I'm wondering if there is anything better. Also, can that price be beat?
