Hi,

I have been reading a very interesting article (http://pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-palm-poi.php) on this site.
Shows the use of some very interesting POI db's for use on a Palm device.

Only thing is that I cannot figure out how to get it working on my Palm???

Can anyone help me???

Thnx en best regards,
Peter

Hi pebe Welcome

What part don't you understand?

All you need to do is download the POI's that you want, put them in the same directory that you have your TomTom map and then run TomTom. Go to the Navigator screen and tap the screen, tap "Next" until you see the option of "Properties". Select this and then select the POI tab at the bottom, scroll down until you see the POI's that you have downloaded and select them. Done! Thumbs Up

Hi Beefy,

Seems simple but I haven't got a clew where the maps are on my palm tungsten T3. Its not a Pocket PC where you simply can view the folders...
Or is there a possibility???? I have no experience yet with palm devices so it might be that I simply don't know where and how to do it.

The maps, with the standard POI's are loaded from the instalation cd onto the palm device.... can't find anything of it on my PC.

So if you can explain me in "newbe" language..... I might be able to understand. ;-)

thnx for the reply! :-)
Peter

Hhhmmm.....That is where my knowledge fails me! Sad I have no experience of Palm devices, but I would expect that there must be an application that allows you to look at the directory structure on your device.

By the way you won't find the standard POI's that TT offers as they are in a different format (so that they can't be ripped off I suspect).

One thought is have you down loaded the September Update? This allows the following functionality:

What is new in TomTom Navigator 4.40 for palmOne?

Points Of Interest (POI) management:
Create your own POI category
Add locations to your own category
by using a point on the map
by specifying a location
Plug-in a POI category from other TomTom users (including from TomTom PocketPC/Palm users)
Add locations to the plugged-in category
Edit your POI category, or your plugged-in category
Modify the locations in your category
Delete locations in your category
Delete your POI category, or your plugged-in category
Delete a plugged-in category
Use your POI, or plugged-in, category in the application as build-in POI category
Enable/disable display to map browser or moving map
Search by proximity to a location and/or by name
Turn into destination, departure, via, home, favourite, other POI
Option to get a warning when you are close to a POI. The warning will be given based on the specified POI category, distance and sound.

Thnx again beefy,

Found a way to get the poi's installed on a Palm device.

You need to use a cardreader connected to your pc, then you can read, copy and past files in the correct folder.
This way the files (OV2 & BMP) are recognized by TomTom when the card is reinserted into the Palm.

Best regards,
Peter
