As per the title, it seems that using the sirf driver with my X6 is a waste of time !!!it's slow and laggy where as the nmea driver is faultless !!!

this matches with other user's experience.

If you want a stable system, run NMEA at 4800. If you are adventurous and love it when things break and you can attempt to fix them, use SiRF at 57600

99.9% of apps are coded to either only accept an NMEA stream and not SiRF or they're fine tuned for NMEA and badly tuned for SiRF.

Also, couple this with a lot of GPS Manufacturers using different baud rates (a lot are now using SiRF 38400) you need to guess the correct setting for your GPS.

But even if you do use SiRF most applications will work better in NMEA mode (there are a few exclusions to this rule) but most of the main programs perfer NMEA over SiRF as a protocol.
